       Mari Rose Thorn is an embodied movement teacher, dance artist & choreographer. She brings to her work decades of experience studying with renowned teachers from Brazil, Cuba, Haiti, West Africa, and the United States, and 15+ years teaching dance with both children and adults. In addition to teaching Pilates and Restorative Flow, Mari is one of a handful of certified instructors of the uniquely holistic dancer training method, Silvestre Technique. Developed by her mentors, Rosangela Silvestre and Vera Passo - Silvestre is rooted in ballet, informed by an Afro-Brazilian animistic worldview, and inspired by the movements of nature. She has performed throughout the SF Bay Area as a company member with Ballet Afsaneh and Alayo Dance Companies; and throughout Portland, OR as a company member with Rejoice! Diaspora Dance Theater. She currently enjoys offering a variety of weekly classes at Columbia Flow in Troutdale, OR.
      Mari has found her gift in creating a safe and exciting space for students to discover their unique expression and physical capacities. Her classes, camps and retreats are a meaningful experience in connection; within one's self, together in community, and as a part of the natural world. She works with movers of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels; calling them back to embodied movement.
